Working on Western Australia's flagship projects.

Boorloo Bridge – Causeway Link Alliance

Client: CIVMEC
Sector: Bridges
In partnership with CIVMEC, the Boorloo Bridge works included approximately 2,000 tonnes of steel structures, earthworks, piling, electrical installation and major pylon works. Western Geotechnical took over testing from a previous lab in June 2023 and delivered the project through to completion in November 2024. Our team completed over 3,000 tests, primarily for footpaths and crane pads. The crane pads were critical to construction, designed to withstand oversized cranes and heavy lifts. Testing included specialised Plateload and Nuclear Density Measurement Services to ensure the safety and stability of the works. Pylon installation was undertaken in April 2024 using a 1,600-tonne crawler, one of the largest cranes in Australia. Two of the three pylons represent traditional digging sticks used to harvest edible roots around wetlands, while the third reflects the shape of a boomerang used for hunting. Boorloo Bridge spans 220m and 270m, featuring 6m-wide segregated walkways that separate pedestrians from traffic, improving safety and connectivity. The bridge links the Victoria Park foreshore to Heirisson Island and Perth’s CBD at Point Fraser, and is illuminated nightly from sunset to midnight with more than 17,000 LED lights.
