Rock Strength Testing | AS 4133 & ISRM

Rock strength testing provides the fundamental mechanical property data required for geotechnical design, rock mass classification, excavation assessment, and mining engineering. Western Geotechnical Laboratory Services (WGLS) offers a comprehensive range of accredited rock strength testing conducted to Australian Standards (AS 4133) and ISRM methods, including Uniaxial Compressive Strength (UCS) (AS 4133.4.2.1), UCS with Elastic Modulus, Brazilian Indirect Tensile Strength, and Point Load testing — available in axial, diametral, and lump configurations, with or without photographic documentation (AS 4133.4.1). These tests quantify the intact strength and deformation characteristics of rock core samples, providing geotechnical engineers, mine designers, and civil engineers with the verified data they need to classify rock, design support systems, and model rock mass behaviour with confidence.
