Soil density and compaction testing are essential for earthworks quality control. They confirm that fill materials have been compacted to the specified dry density ratio, ensuring long-term stability of roads, pavements, and foundations. Western Geotechnical Laboratory Services (WGLS) provides accredited soil density and compaction testing to Australian Standards and Main Roads WA specifications. Our test suite covers Standard Compaction (AS 1289.5.1.1 / WA 132.1), Modified Compaction (AS 1289.5.2.1 / WA 133.1), Oversize Standard and Modified Compaction for materials with more than 20% retained on 19.0mm (WA 132.2 / WA 133.2), Soil Particle Density for fine, coarse, and combined fractions (AS 1289.3.5.1), and Minimum and Maximum Density for cohesionless soils (AS 1289.5.5.1). Results are delivered with fast turnaround from our NATA-accredited laboratory in Welshpool, Perth.
