Soil Electrical Resistivity Testing | AS 1289

Soil electrical resistivity is a key parameter in the design of earthing and grounding systems for electrical infrastructure, including substations, transmission lines, pipelines, and industrial facilities. It measures how strongly a soil resists the flow of electrical current and is used to assess corrosion risk to buried metalwork and to design effective earth electrode systems. Western Geotechnical Laboratory Services (WGLS) provides accredited Soil Electrical Resistivity testing to AS 1289.4.4.1 from our NATA-accredited laboratory in Welshpool, Perth. Results are used by electrical engineers, corrosion engineers, and civil designers to specify appropriate earthing system designs and cathodic protection measures for infrastructure projects across Western Australia.
